Winter Hues

Now that Christmas decorations are put away, I often feel like my home looks a bit bland. My solution? Use your existing greenery and add accent colors. My accent colors this season are winter white berries and dusty blue berries, which I’ve placed in vases I’ve collected over time. One special piece is the lovely Wedgwood engraved vase my oldest, thoughtful daughter gifted me for Christmas. You can also use pitchers—like the one pictured, which belonged to my Great Grandmother and was passed down to me by my sweet mama. In my kitchen, I placed an inexpensive, simple tree (originally for Christmas) into a sapphire blue and white ginger jar for a pop of winter charm.

Pull out trays and create a vignette. I enjoy arranging a tray with a small bud vase featuring a dainty arrangement in my chosen accent colors. Yours could be lavender, blush pink, or various shades of greenery. Add your favorite fragrant candle, and suddenly the tray becomes a lovely display. A tray can also hold your tea set for a variety of hot teas or serve as a spot to showcase your favorite coffee mugs. My brushed gold circular tray in the movie room has my Daddy’s horse that was displayed in my childhood home in our den. Trays can hold your treasures that will tell a story.

Print some of your favorite holiday pictures and place them in collected frames. A coffee table is an excellent place to display these along with another floral arrangement, perhaps featuring paper white flowers. Pictures of family and friends add a personal, heartwarming touch, allowing you to reflect on the holidays that pass so quickly. I recommend Mpix.com for affordable, professional-quality prints—choose the luster coating for a polished look. Coffee tables are also great for books, and you can never have too many candles. Try flameless flickering candles with a French vanilla scent for a cozy, realistic ambiance.

Turn on your favorite music, gather items from around your home, and let creativity guide you. This process will be both enjoyable and fulfilling.

The Winter Hues I chose bring a fresh and inspiring feel to our home. If I can help in anyway feel free to email me or send a private message.
