Our Heart for Jesus

My dear friend and I have just started a new Bible study by Priscilla Shirer tilled “ I Surrender All.” The Preface begins that she and her friends were on a retreat and in the town she was speaking, a local church member offered her Home for them to stay. Once they drove up they realized it was a lovely Mansion. At first the lady was kind and had a warm smile at the front door. However then they were told to not walk on the rugs, not to let their luggage touch the special treated walls, and not use the comforter on their beds. The lady ended the night and said “ Make Yourself at Home.”

Priscilla begins thinking of this illustration that we do the same thing. I know I do. We welcome Jesus in our Hearts with limitations. We don’t want our “ Home” disrupted. We don’t want to add or take away treasures away in our “Home.” We don’t want to welcome Jesus in all of our “Home.”

We need full Faith to Surrender all and we have no idea what Transformation will happen. I’m reminded of the verse Matthew 6:33. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all things will be added to you. The old hymn I Surrender All’s words describe when we give our All we will feel the Holy Spirit and give All Glory to God.

God is the architect and Jesus is the Cornerstone.
