Happy New Year
Grace is my Christ Centered word for the New Year. It will be my reminder to be kind to myself and others. We as women are hard on ourselves. We multitask, we nurture, we care, we do, we listen, and we try to carry it all on our shoulders. I often have to read this Bible verse in Matthew 11:28-30. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
In return then we are disappointed in ourselves that our to do list didn’t get checked off entirely, the laundry is not complete, haven’t finished our Bible Reading, and didn’t carve out time for ourselves.
In order to take care of others we have to take care of ourselves first. I’m realizing in some Seasons of my life , my cup is full of the Holy Spirit and I can pour out to friends. Other times my cup is half full or even empty and I need authentic friends to pour into me.
The verse Psalm 139:14 says I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. It’s taken a long time to realize I’m blessed to have individual friends that have their inner Teapots full of Grace, full of Joy, full of Peace, full of Comfort, full of Strength, full of Wisdom, and full of a Listening Heart.
This year I pray that God guides me with his Grace and in return I give Grace to myself and others.
